Who is eligible to participate in a Dementia Minds group?
To be eligible to join a Dementia Minds group, you must have a diagnosis of mild cognitive impairment (MCI) or some kind of dementia.
Is Dementia Minds a support group?
We do support one another, but Dementia Minds groups are much more than a traditional support group. In our groups, we:
- Build meaningful, lasting friendships
- Navigate life with dementia alongside others who truly understand
- Share practical strategies for living well with dementia
- Create educational videos, resources, and tools
- Conduct presentations for other people living with dementia, families, care partners, healthcare providers, researchers, policymakers, and communities.

How often do Dementia Minds group meet?
Typically, groups meet once a week. Some groups may choose to meet every other week.
How long is a Dementia Minds meeting?
Meetings are usually about 1 hour.
How many participants are in a Dementia Minds group?
Each Dementia Minds group typically has 8 to 10 members. However, group sizes can vary.
Who facilitates Dementia Minds Group meetings?
Each Dementia Minds group is supported by a 2- or 3- person volunteer support team who facilitates our meetings. These volunteers also assist with presentation development and help coordinate educational events.
Are all meetings held virtually?
Yes. All meetings are held virtually using Zoom. Click for information about how to join a Zoom meeting.What technology Do I Need to participate in a Dementia Minds group?
1. Dementia Minds groups meet over Zoom. While Zoom can be accessed on a smart phone, a laptop or tablet is preferred.

4. A webcam and microphone are needed. Most computers, tablets, and laptops have built-in webcams and microphones. However, webcams with microphones can also be purchased. Click here to see webcams available on Amazon.com.
5. A headset with a microphone is suggested (but not required) for privacy during group discussion, and to filter out background noise and distractions.
